YES! Whether you book for yourself or for a group, your session is 100% private. This ensures a one-on-one environment where you can interact with the birds and ask questions at your own pace, without the distractions or awkwardness of a group of strangers.
You might, however, see some of our other staff attending to the daily care and husbandry of our animals and facility.
The short answer is no.
While Mile High Falcons falconry experiences are not a pathway to obtain a falconry license, we provide a completely factual and immersive deep-dive that can serve as a foundation for anyone's future journey into the sport.
Mile High Falcons chooses to offer a single comprehensive and authentic experience that includes all of our activities. No need to compare different offerings - you can book your experience with the confidence in knowing you won't miss a thing!
You will get a behind the scenes tour of our facilities and birds. You will learn about each bird we have as well as key facts and conservation efforts. You will see a training demo as well as have the chance for a bird to fly to your gloved hand.
We cater your expeirnce to your interests - If you are interested in how we feed our birds, let us know and we can show you! If you are interested in how we care for our birds, let us know and we will walk you through our routine! We want this to be educational and customized just for you.
While we love sharing our passion for falconry with guests, we prioritize the safety and security of our animals. For their protection, our specific address is only shared once your booking is confirmed. All raptors in our care are protected under licenses from the US Fish & Wildlife Service, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and/or the USDA.
For easy planning, we are located in the Cañon City / Florence / Penrose area in southern Colorado.
We have eagles, owls, hawks, falcons, vultures, and corvids on site.
YES! Not only will you have the chance to get up close to several birds, we will have one bird that will be able to fly to your gloved hand!
Every attendee will be participating in the experience, whether they participate in every activity (like the flight portion) or not. Everyone still gets to meet several animals up close, go on a tour of the facilities, and gain the knowledge we have to offer.
Our facilities are designed for adults to work in and around. This set up and experience is not conducive to young children. We are also discussing the world of hunting and raptor care, which may not be the most exciting for some kiddos.
If you are interested in an educational program for kids, we can help refer you to a program that is more suited for them.
